Areas of expertise

People seek support from a Clinical Psychologist for all sorts of reasons. You don’t need to have everything figured out before making that first appointment.

Kate has experience supporting people with a range of psychological and emotional difficulties, including:

  • Trauma and difficult or distressing life experiences

  • Anxiety and excessive worry

  • Depression and low mood

  • Burnout and stress

  • Low self-esteem

  • Emotional difficulties relating to physical health conditions

  • Difficult periods of change or adjustment

Kate has a particular interest in trauma and the impact difficult experiences can continue to have on our thoughts, emotions, relationships and everyday lives.

Meet Dr Kate Rhodes

Kate is an experienced Clinical Psychologist with more than 15 years’ experience working within the NHS, alongside her private practice.

Her approach is warm, collaborative and tailored to the individual. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy, Kate works with you to understand your experiences, the challenges you’re facing and what you would like to change.

Her work draws upon a range of evidence-based psychological approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) and mindfulness-based approaches.

A personalised approach

Therapy is incredibly personal, which is why Kate’s work begins with understanding you rather than simply applying a particular technique.

Together, you can explore what may be contributing to how you’re feeling and identify an approach that feels appropriate for you. Depending on your individual needs, this may involve CBT, ACT, EMDR, mindfulness-based techniques or a combination of therapeutic approaches.

The aim is to create a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment where you can talk openly, develop a greater understanding of yourself and work towards meaningful, lasting change.
